It pays to shop around for Cedar Point deals. And those deals are available everywhere – at fast food outlets, grocery stores and online.
By doing a little digging, you can enjoy significant savings on admission to the park. To illustrate, let’s focus on a specific date (August 10) and see what kind of temporary discounts are available at that particular time.
When I’m shopping at Meijer in August, I look at the Cedar Point display and notice an additional offer from Johnsonville bratwurst. If I buy a pack of Johnsonville brats, I can save an additional $5 off a Cedar Point ticket. Now my potential savings is $10 per ticket.
Johnsonville, like Meijer and Pepsi and AAA and many other companies, is one of Cedar Point’s partners; in fact, you can buy a delicious Johnsonville brat in Frontierland. It’s always worth your while to look at these partners for additional savings.
(NOTE: When I returned to Meijer a few weeks later, I noticed the Johnsonville offer was removed from the Cedar Point display, which tells me that offer was a limited-time opportunity.)
Although the Johnsonville offer sounds good, I’m not so sure I want to buy brats right now. So I go online, to www.meijer.com. I type “Cedar Point” into the search function . . . and success! For one week only, Meijer is offering a $5 Cedar Point coupon on their website. The coupon expires August 15, so I have to decide quickly. However, it looks like I can now save $10 per ticket at Meijer, without having to buy any brats.
While I’m still on the Internet, I go to www.cedarpoint.com, click on “Admission,” then click on “Deals and Discounts.” To my delight, there are a couple of interesting (but temporary) offers.
Summer Savings Days – During August 2009, the park is offering $15 off the price of Wednesday admissions. At $29.99, that’s the best deal I’ve seen so far, so I read further. I notice the offer is “online only,” which means I have to buy the tickets from Cedar Point’s own website. Also, I have to specify the exact Wednesday I intend to visit; when I print them out, the tickets will say that they are good for that date only.
Ride Now, Scream Later – Another online offer looks interesting. For a price of $59.99, I can get two admissions to the Park. One of the admissions has to be used before September 7, and the other one has to be used during HalloWeekends, which runs from September 18-November 1. For anyone considering two visits during those time frames, this would be an excellent way to save money on the admission cost.
I only focused on a handful of the ways you can save on admission (and my research was limited to a few weeks in August), but there are many other ways to trim the price down. Do a little digging at various times in the spring and summer and see what you can come up with.
But whatever you do, try to avoid paying full price!
