
Cedar Point is owned by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company (NYSE: FUN), a publicly traded company based in Sandusky, Ohio. Cedar Fair owns and operates 11 theme parks in North America, and is the most successful amusement park corporation behind Disney (based on stock value).
In December, 2009, Cedar Fair entered into an agreement with Apollo Global Management, a leading global alternative asset manager. Pending approval by Cedar Fair shareholders, the $2.4 billion acquisition will give Apollo Global Management ownership of Cedar Fair. The once-publicly traded company will then be privately held.
Apollo’s purchase of Cedar Fair gives the organization ownership of these parks:

• Carowinds (Charlotte, North Carolina/Fort Mill, South Carolina)
• Cedar Point (Sandusky, Ohio)

• Kings Dominion (Doswell, Virginia)
• Kings Island (Mason, Ohio)
• Knott’s Berry Farm (Buena Park, California)
• Michigan’s Adventure (Muskegon, Michigan)
• Valleyfair (Shakopee, Minnesota)
• Worlds of Fun (Kansas City, Missouri)
