Cedar Point Hotels: Deals & Discounts

IMG_1309

Are good deals available at Cedar Point properties? Definitely!

For the latest news on discounts and temporary savings opportunities, head to the Internet. It’s always a good idea to check Cedar Point’s website (www.cedarpoint.com). Some of the best deals are “online only.” It’s a smart marketing move on Cedar Point’s part, because it not only gets CP fans in the habit of checking the site on a frequent basis, but it also helps automate the process of ticketing and making reservations.

(The days of the friendly phone operator who helps you plan a weekend visit are not quite gone, but they’ve been replaced in large part by automated systems. Less personal, yes, but also much cheaper for you.)

An even better idea is to get the news to come straight to you. When you are on Cedar Point’s site, sign up for their email notices, which the park sends out on a frequent basis. Also, become a Facebook fan of Cedar Point and get instant updates.

Staying for “free” at a Cedar Point Property

Cedar Point is continually offering intriguing deals to entice people into visiting the park and staying at its official properties. Consider this bargain package which essentially lets you stay at Breakers Express for free.

On Friday, September 11, 2009, I received an email from Cedar Point entitled, “BIG Breakers Express Packages This Weekend Only.” The email arrived at 1:40 p.m., which seems late for us out-of-staters to plan a CP visit, but perhaps it was an impulse move on Cedar Point’s part.

Anyway, I clicked on the links and got the details on the following package:

  • 1 night accommodation at Breakers Express (for Sept. 11 or Sept. 12 only)
  • 4 one-day Cedar Point tickets
  • Free Cedar Point parking voucher
  • One hour early entry to the park

Total price? Only $179.99!

That’s an excellent deal. Essentially, you pay full price for four Cedar Point tickets ($44.99 x 4) and get free parking ($10 value) and free lodging for the night. And you get early admission, which is nirvana for roller coaster freaks.

The park was also offering other great deals for people interested in staying two nights (Friday and Saturday), and for those who desire breakfast coupons at a nearby eatery, since Breakers Express provides no dining options.

More (Temporary) Goodies from Cedar Point

And as if that wasn’t good enough, here is another enticement that Cedar Point was dangling in front of fans for that weekend, which was known as Season Passholder Appreciation Weekend. I only discovered this one because of a quick Facebook message from Cedar Point, which basically said, “Great deals for this weekend.” I clicked the link and found a great offer.

The park was offering 2010 Season Passes (new or renewals) for the bargain price of $90, and Platinum Passes for $140. That represents an impressive $20 savings off of the 2009 price. However, the price was only available on that weekend (Sept. 11-13), and only in person! By Monday, Sept. 14, the 2010 passes would be available, but at full price. I was a little depressed that this offer was not available to web users. Oh well, congrats to everyone who took advantage of this great deal.

The moral of the story, as usual, is to stay on top of Cedar Point’s ever-changing deals with a healthy dose of poking around on the Internet.
